- 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/4 cup Pecans (chopped, for topping)
- 2 tablespoons Gluten-Free Pretzel Crumbs (for topping)
- 1/4 teaspoon Sea Salt Flakes (for topping)
Instructions
- 1
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- 2
In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, water, almond flour, and salt over medium heat.
- 3
Stir constantly with a heat-resistant spatula until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
- 4
Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage) on a candy thermometer. This may take 15-20 minutes. Be patient and stir frequently to prevent burning.
- 5
Remove from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda.
- 6
Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it into a thin, even layer.
- 7
Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee and let them sit for a minute or two to soften.
- 8
Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee. Sprinkle immediately with the toasted chopped almonds, pecan pieces, pretzel crumbs and sea salt flakes.
- 9
Let the toffee cool completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator until hardened.
- 10
Break the toffee into pieces and store in an airtight container.
