Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups Almond flour
- 1/4 cup Tapioca starch
- 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 6 tablespoons Cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
- 1 Egg yolk
- 2-3 tablespoons Ice water
- 3 Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
- 1/4 cup Brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1/4 cup Heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt (for caramel)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2
In a bowl, whisk together almond flour, tapioca starch, sugar, and salt.
- 3
Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Add egg yolk and ice water, mixing until a dough forms. Gently press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.
- 5
Bake crust for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let cool slightly.
- 6
While the crust is baking, prepare the apple filling: Toss apple slices with lemon juice, brown sugar, and butter in a saucepan.
- 7
Cook over medium heat until apples are tender, about 8-10 minutes.
- 8
Pour apple filling into the pre-baked tart crust.
- 9
For the caramel sauce: In a saucepan, melt sugar over medium heat until golden brown. Add butter, heavy cream, vanilla, and salt, whisking constantly until smooth.
- 10
Drizzle caramel sauce over the apples. Bake the tart for another 10-15 minutes until filling is bubbly. Let cool completely before serving.
Tips & Notes
- •For a richer caramel flavor, use dark brown sugar.
- •If the crust starts to brown too quickly, cover it loosely with foil.
