Ingredients
- 1 lb Beef sirloin steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
- 4 cups Broccoli florets
- 1/4 cup Gluten-free soy sauce (Tamari)
- 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon Ginger (grated)
- 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup Beef broth
- 1/4 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 stalks Green onions (thinly sliced, for garnish)
Instructions
- 1
In a bowl, whisk together gluten-free soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and rice vinegar. Set aside.
- 2
In a separate bowl, toss the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until evenly coated.
- 3
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
- 4
Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and sesame oil to the wok. Add the garlic and ginger and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 5
Add the broccoli florets to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender-crisp.
- 6
Pour in the beef broth and cover the wok. Steam the broccoli for another 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
- 7
Pour the sauce mixture into the wok and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- 8
Return the beef to the wok and toss to coat with the sauce. Stir in red pepper flakes, if using.
- 9
Serve immediately over rice or cauliflower rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
Tips & Notes
- •For extra tender beef, marinate it in the soy sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
- •Don't overcrowd the wok when stir-frying the beef; cook in batches if necessary to ensure proper browning.
- •Adjust the amount of brown sugar and red pepper flakes to your liking to customize the sweetness and spice level.
