Ingredients

  • 1 lb Beef sirloin steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
  • 4 cups Broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup Gluten-free soy sauce (Tamari)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 stalks Green onions (thinly sliced, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a bowl, whisk together gluten-free soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and rice vinegar. Set aside.

  2. 2

In a separate bowl, toss the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until evenly coated.

  3. 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.

  4. 4

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and sesame oil to the wok. Add the garlic and ginger and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  5. 5

Add the broccoli florets to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender-crisp.

  6. 6

Pour in the beef broth and cover the wok. Steam the broccoli for another 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.

  7. 7

Pour the sauce mixture into the wok and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.

  8. 8

Return the beef to the wok and toss to coat with the sauce. Stir in red pepper flakes, if using.

  9. 9

Serve immediately over rice or cauliflower rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Tips & Notes

  • For extra tender beef, marinate it in the soy sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Don't overcrowd the wok when stir-frying the beef; cook in batches if necessary to ensure proper browning.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar and red pepper flakes to your liking to customize the sweetness and spice level.

Recipe Variations
